Turkey's most comprehensive cloud summit, Future of Cloud Summit, took place on October 26 at Wyndham Grand Levent. The summit, hosted by CXO Medya, evaluated the future of cloud technology with CIO, CDO, CTO, IT leaders and participants from various sectors.
Cloud computing continues to realize the expected transformation for the IT industry. Although cloud computing is at the heart of digital business, many organizations are still struggling to optimize this powerful tool. That's why CIOs and cloud managers need to understand the benefits of cloud computing, cloud security and what capabilities are required for successful cloud management. In this context, at the Future of Cloud Summit 2022, featuring panelists from many industries, more than 200 attendees explored the latest trends and insights of the cloud.
Leaders' consensus: Cloud computing is the most important factor driving speed
Future of Cloud Summit 2022 opened with the 'Open Discussion: Leadership Vision for Cloud&DX' session. In the session moderated by Murat Yıldız, Co-Founder of CXO Medya, Fahri Arkan, CIO of AgeSa Hayat ve Emeklilik, Mert Oruz, CIO of Arkas Holding, Murat Zeren, CIO of Zorlu Holding and Yakup Ünal, CIO of Bayegan evaluated the future of cloud technologies. The common opinion of the panelists was that cloud technology is the most important factor that increases speed. In addition, cloud was identified as the starting point of the transformation journey in end-to-end logistics, cost, competitive advantage and changing the way companies do business.
Price, security, agility and speed prioritized in cloud vendor selection
The second session of the summit 'Building Hybrid/Multi Cloud Strategy' started with the presentation of Bulutistan Board Member and CSO Gökhan Gençtürk. In his presentation, Gençtürk stated that Bulutistan's aim is to manage multi-cloud environments with local software by creating a B2B Unicorn and to provide advantages to customers by tracking cloud spending. Another speaker in the session, Demirören Medya CIO Ufuk Dokuzluoğlu stated that the most important criteria when choosing a cloud provider are price, security, agility and speed.
At the summit, which continued with the 'Open Data Cloud' session, Google Cloud Corporate Cloud Sales Manager Taylan Tandoğan emphasized that in the future, there will be a world where companies will integrate cloud services from many different suppliers.
In the session 'The Era of Multi-Cloud Services Has Arrived' with the participation of Data Market Deputy General Manager Barış Erolcay and VMware Senior Systems Engineer Bünyamin Özyaşar, it was pointed out that companies will move to multi-cloud by 2024 and will gain advantages in areas such as application development speed, infrastructure readiness time and business efficiency.
In the next panel 'Optimize Cloud Cost, Maximize Business Value', Tolga Dinçer, CEO of DT Informatics Group, stated that they have achieved cost savings between 28% and 68% with cloud optimization and at this point, the cloud market will continue to grow globally.
'Building Secure Cloud Native Applications' session was held with the participation of Serkan Kırkkulaç, Data and Endpoint Security Manager at Yapı Kredi Technology, Murat Aydoğan, Cloud Security Team Leader at Çiçek Sepeti and Mehmet Gülyurt, Palo Alto Network System Engineer. Panelists stated that API security will be an important topic with the cloud transformation. In addition, it was mentioned that security must be ensured and all teams within the organization must work in harmony to prevent supply problems in this process.
A reliable infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment is essential for successful data management!
In the 'Accelerating Enterprise Business Transformation with the Cloud' session with the participation of Commencis CCO Alp Pekin and Amazon Web Services Corporate Sales Manager Tarık Ertuğrul, it was emphasized that 95% of digital workloads will be moved to Cloud Native platforms by 2025 and therefore every company should have a cloud strategy. At this point, it was pointed out that it is necessary to switch to Cloud Native in order to see the cost advantage of the cloud.
In the 'Driving The Business Value of Data and Analytics on Cloud' panel, Evren Atasayar, Vice President of Sales at Oredata, emphasized that the biggest advantage of the cloud is to reduce IT procurement times by reducing the initial investment cost and to eliminate capacity and license barriers in artificial intelligence projects by transferring IT infrastructure management to customers.
Kürşad Sezgin, Country Manager at Veeam Software, presented 'Modern Data Protection for Enterprises', another panel on the data management process. Stating that traditional data protection methods are insufficient to meet the current needs of the market, Sezgin pointed out that data protection automation is very important, especially in an environment where human resources are limited.
At the summit, which continued with the session 'Hackers Do Not Sleep: Cloud Security is The First', Emirhan Aşçı, General Market Sales Manager of Trend Micro, and Sercan Çokyeğit, CIO of Mikrogrup, emphasized that the amount paid for unused cloud services in the world is approximately 5 billion dollars and therefore control is an important factor in the transition to the cloud.
In another session 'Digital Network Transformation and Software Defined Solutions' at the Future of Cloud Summit, Uğur Ünlüakın, Head of Pre-Sales Solutions at Netaş, emphasized the need for a reliable infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment for successful data management.
Detailed cost tracking in cloud transformation facilitates optimization efforts
'Open Discussion: The Cloud Journey From Strategy to Transformation' session was moderated by Hakan İnanır, CIO of Doğa Okulları, with the participation of Ersen Gelçin, CTO of Teknosa, Handan Karakuş, CIO of Carrefoursa, Murat Erez, CIO of Kale Group, Mehmet Fırat, Head of IT & Digital Business Management of Enerjisa and Ufuk Dokuzluoğlu, CIO of Demirören Medya. During the session, it was emphasized that companies with multiple customer channels should gradually transition to the cloud without being exposed to instant interruption. In addition, it was also stated that optimization studies are easily carried out as cloud transformation operations provide detailed cost tracking.

The last session of the Future of Cloud Summit, 'Open Discussion: Digital Leadership: Fuel The Transformation for Enterprise-Scale Adoption' was moderated by Metro Cash & Carry Turkey CIO Tunç Şenyol with the participation of Tavuk Dünyası IT Director Hülya Çavuş, Ayaydın Miroglio Group IT & Logistics Director Süreyya Şevket Çelikkanat, LC Waikiki CDO Şerafettin Özer and İpragaz IT Director Yaman Acar. The panelists gathered the most important factors for the success of digital transformation under the headings of creating awareness, creating business value by matching the needs of business units with the right technologies, determining the processes correctly, analyzing data and providing a secure infrastructure.
